Warden Woods Community Centre has been working with and for the communities of Warden Woods and Southwest Scarborough for over 50 years.
Mission
Our mission is to build caring, compassionate, just and interdependent communities in our local neighbourhoods, by:
- Listening + collaborating to provide appropriate programs, services and supports that meet the evolving needs and interests of the individuals and groups who make up our beautiful communities.
- Identifying + building resources, skills, capacities and leadership within our communities.
- Connecting our communities to internal and external resources and opportunities.
- Advocating to and with all stakeholders for the benefit of our communities.
Warden Woods Community Centre was founded in 1970 by the Mennonite Church of Eastern Canada (MCEC), in response to the needs of residents from the Oakridge, Cataraqui, Firvalley, Leyton communities and surrounding areas where Social Housing was newly established.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We are required as a registered public benefit charity to have a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is made up of volunteers who agree to oversee the governance of Warden Woods- they oversee the performance of our Executive Director, our financial integrity, and our adherence to the mission of strengthening our local neighbourhood.
Mark Liebenthal-Chair
Mark has over 25 years of leadership experience at the senior and executive levels across multiple industries. He currently consults on multi-faceted large-scale global human capital programs. He advises on talent acquisition and engagement, process efficiency, technology utilization, supply base optimization, cost reduction and containment, international regulatory compliance, and human capital supply chain management.
He holds an LL.M (Master of Laws degree) from the University of Cumbria. He is a member of the International Bar Association and is a member of their Committee for Human Rights. He holds a Qualified Mediator designation through the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada. Mark has been a volunteer mediator since 2016 with Conflict Resolution Services, a division of Warden Woods Community Centre.

Norman Nadar-Treasurer
CPA (Illinois), CPA, CA (Canada). Norman is an internationally experienced Senior Finance Professional, with detailed knowledge of finance operations best practices, risk management and internal controls. His extensive global experience spans a range of countries/regions with highly diverse cultural backgrounds, including Africa, North America, Latin America, China, and Oceania, amongst others. He has professional or volunteer experience with organizations like Rotary International, Kiwanis International and Kids Help Foundation.

Viktoria Lovriks-secretary
Viktoria is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has a Masters of Global Affairs from the Munk School at the University of Toronto. With 10 years of experience managing housing and nutrition programs in non-profit organizations including Habitat for Humanity Canada and Action Against Hunger Canada, Viktoria’s career has centered around creating lasting positive social impact and building strong communities. Viktoria is also a proud resident of Scarborough Southwest.

Colin McCartney -Director
Colin is a ministry veteran with over thirty – five years of ministry experience and is in high demand as a speaker and ministry trainer. He has birthed two non–profits – UrbanPromise Toronto and Connect City – and has also been an urban pastor. Rev. McCartney has appeared on Canadian television, radio and national news media regarding urban issues and is the author of four books – The Beautiful Disappointment, Red Letter Revolution, What Does Justice Look Like and Let The Light In. Most importantly he is married to his beautiful wife Judith and has two grown children – Colin Jr and Victoria.

Hiona Murray-co-chair
Hiona, MA, MIRHR, is a human resources professional with over 12 years of progressive HR experience in a diverse range of key functional areas including employee and labour relations, recruitment and selection, learning and development, and organizational effectiveness. Her career has taken her across multiple industries in the public and private sector including education, construction, food, and government administration. She holds two Master’s degrees – a Master of Arts degree from Ryerson University and the other from the University of Toronto in Industrial Relations and Human Resources.

Tanya Johnson-Vice Chair
RN., BScN, MScN. Tanya Johnson holds a Masters of Science degree in Nursing. She is a clinician and has over fifteen years of clinical leadership experience in a variety of healthcare sectors, particularly in academia, community and public health, and in the hospital. In these roles she has been a nurse leader and led various health and clinical interprofessional teams in a variety of healthcare settings. In addition, her clinical areas of expertise include community and public health, mental health, senior’s health and women’s health.
Tanya is a visionary systems leader who prioritizes strategy, governance and health policy. She always leads with integrity and is focused on change management, continuous quality improvement, workplace culture, employee and client-care satisfaction. In Tanya’s spare time she enjoys travelling, exploring new hiking trails, and spending time with her family and friends.

Javil Joujoute-Director
Javil Joujoute is a passionate public policy enthusiast and community advocate who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Health Studies from the University of Toronto, and is dedicated to striving for positive social change through effective policy development. He brings valuable experience from working in government, on political campaigns, and advocating for the most vulnerable during his time working for the Salvation Army in Canada. Javil currently works as a Policy Analyst for the Ontario Nonprofit Network(ONN), and has a particular interest in socio-economic policy, wealth building within the black community, and innovative solutions for the Nonprofit sector.

Tracy Qin-Director
Tracy is an experienced finance professional with over 16 years in the public accounting field. She spent over 10 years in a public accounting firm where she rose to become a partner. She subsequently started her own public accounting firm where she provides a wide range of financial services to businesses and individuals.
Tracy holds a CGA, CPA in Canada. She completed her BBA at York University.
