Administrative

Reception Relief: Apply Now

Volunteers who assist the support services department, to relieve the receptionist on her lunch breaks. Duties include operating mail machine, fax and photocopier; respond to incoming calls, walk-ins, data entry and distribution of mail.

 

Adult Day Program

ADP Assistant Clerk: Apply Now

Volunteers who assist with administrative tasks. Roles include preparing mailings  to Senior’s , helping to promote the programme, responding to incoming phone calls and walk ins, data entry, filing and other duties assigned by the coordinator.

 

ADP Kitchen AssistantApply Now

Volunteers who assist with meal preparation for the senior’s day programme. Volunteer duties include set up and clearing of tables and lunch wares and utensils, ensuring kitchen is cleaned and sanitized after meals, serving food to clients. and other duties as requested by the coordinator.

The Board is responsible for the oversight of Warden Woods Community Centre. A board member is required to attend monthly meetings, participate in making decisions and identify organizational goals and ensure that projects are moving forward. Board members may also be required to participate in standing or ad-hoc committees or working groups to help move the agency’s strategic priorities ahead.

Looking for a forum to voice the needs and issues of the local community?  Consider joining the Warden Woods Community Advisory Group (CAG).  The CAG members are a diverse group of local residents who ensure that Warden Woods’ programmes and services are effective and relevant.  This group is committed to identifying and mobilizing the strengths within our community to build a better future. Children’s Programme

Afterschool Programme Worker: Apply Now

Volunteers who assist the programme worker with the coordination of a wide range of social and recreational programmes. Duties include enforcing standards of acceptable behaviour within the group, assist in programme promotion, encourage relationship building within the group, and deal with issues that arise.

 

Children’s Programme Assistant: Apply Now

Volunteers who assist in the facilitation of programmes. Volunteer roles include being involved in the development of relationships within the club, enforcing rules and providing structure within the programme, offering assistance as needed.

Volunteers who provide homework assistance during the after school programme. Volunteer roles include providing homework assistance to any child who needs it, assisting children in developing skills and self-discipline, encouraging children and providing support to those who need it, deal with any issues that may arise

 

Community Development

Arts & Craft Workshop LeaderApply Now

Volunteers who assist the community development team with the arts & craft programme. Duties include assessing participants for knitting ability, evaluate aspects of participants’ work, provide encouragement and develop appropriate lessons for class.

 

Community Development AssistantApply Now

Volunteers who assist the community development team to engage the community to become involved in the Centre’s activities. Duties include assisting the CD Coordinator with outreach, event planning and execution, phone calls, preparation of documents and other duties that may be assigned.

 

Computer InstructorApply Now

Volunteers who assist the community support worker in teaching computer classes. Volunteer will teach others how to effectively operate WORD and MICROSOFT OFFICE so that they may increase their computer skills.  This helps with personal organization and employment readiness.

 

Fitness Instructor: Apply Now

Volunteers who assist the community development team to engage the community in fitness activities. Duties include assessing participants for physical fitness levels, create an appropriate routine, exercise with class and teach participants to perform exercises/routines.

 

Fresh Produce Market Assistant: Apply Now

Volunteers who assist the Fresh Produce Market Assistant. Duties include: assisting with set up, take down and clean up, customer service, consulting with customers about food purchases, ensuring area is clean, disposing of produce boxes assisting staff with any other duties.

 

Fundraising Assistant: Apply Now

Volunteers who assist with fundraising activities. Duties include Checking websites for possible grant applications, calling local businesses for silent auction donations, faxing media releases and other duties assigned by the Resource Development Associate.

 

Outreach AssistantApply Now

Volunteers who assist in outreach within the community. Duties include developing and delivering flyers door to door in the community, putting up posters, canvassing, telephone calling, research, compilation and analysis of data.

Volunteers who assist with the sewing programme.  Duties include setting up the machines and checking to ensure they are functioning well, setting up the room for programme, taking attendance, setting up tea and coffee service, and helping to put away all the supplies after classes.

Volunteers who teach the sewing programme. Responsibilities include teaching sewing skills in a caring manner to ensure that students understand what is being taught, performing regular maintenance checks on machines as required, communicating with the Coordinator, planning and implementing programme activities and responding to inquiries.

Volunteers who assist the Early Childhood Services department. Responsibilities include assisting with:  set up ,  light housekeeping duties, preparation of snacks and field trip lunches, supervision of children on outdoor field trips, working one on one with children, washroom time, general supervision and classroom safety.

Volunteers who assist with the set up and clean up of the nutrition programme for families with children 0-6 years old. Tax Clinic

Volunteers who assist the community by providing income tax services at a discounted rate. Roles include completing tax returns for individuals with income less than $25,000 per year, ensuring that the tax returns are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Meals On Wheels/Congregate Dining  Meals On Wheels Flyer

Our Meals on Wheels program needs your help! Our Meals on Wheels program is an essential service to our community. The Meals on Wheels program helps those who are unable to cook for themselves and provide delicious and nutritional meals every Mondays to Fridays. This service has a tremendous impact in the lives of our clients. Good Food Box Delivery Volunteer: Apply Now

Volunteers who assist the Meals on Wheels Coordinator to deliver the Good Food Box to clients. Duties include: picking up boxes for fruits and food delivery from the main office, deliver those boxes to the specified client’s home, collect payment from client and return to Coordinator. Advise coordinator of any client concerns or problems.

 

Meals on Wheels- Driver: Apply Now

Volunteers who drive the runners in the Meals on Wheels programme. Responsibilities include: assist the runner by checking the meals and loading them into the car, drive the meal and the runner to the designated location, report any problems/concerns or observations to the Coordinator, follow cleanliness and hygiene procedures and return any undelivered meals to the office.

 

Meals on Wheels Runner: Apply Now

Volunteers who deliver meals to seniors and other qualified adults in the Meals on Wheels programme. Responsibilities include; assist the driver in checking and loading meals into the car, deliver meals carefully - noting special diets and instructions, if client does not answer, following emergency procedures, return bags to 74 Fir Valley Court, clean spills, return undelivered meals and report any concerns/observations to the staff person in charge.

 

Special Events

Special Events Volunteer: Apply Now

Volunteers do not assist with the planning of events, but do assist in the implementation of the event.  Responsibilities are primarily for the day of the event and include assisting with registration, ticket sales, greeting, logistics and other activities as required.

Special Events Working Group Assistant Volunteers who assist with organizing and implementing events.  Volunteer roles include organizing entertainment, logistics, venue and decorations, and all other aspects of planning and implementing special events.
